You can use your own domain (or subdomain) with picu instead of the default yourname.picu.pro address. For example: proofing.yourdomain.com.
What You Need
- Access to your domain’s DNS settings (via your domain registrar, e.g. GoDaddy, Namecheap, Hover, Squarespace, etc.)
- A subdomain you’d like to use, e.g.
proofing.yourdomain.com
Step 1 – Add a CNAME Record
Log in to your domain registrar and navigate to the DNS settings for your domain. Add a new record with the following values:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Type | CNAME |
| Name / Host | proofing (or whatever subdomain you’d like) |
| Value / Target | yourname.picu.pro |
| TTL | 3600 (or default) |
Example: If your picu.pro site is at
janedoe.picu.proand you want to useproofing.janedoe.com, set the CNAME target tojanedoe.picu.pro.
Step 2 – Wait for DNS Propagation
DNS changes can take anywhere from a few minutes up to 24 hours to propagate. You can check the status at dnschecker.org by entering your subdomain and selecting CNAME.
Step 3 – Let Us Know
Once the CNAME is in place, send us your custom domain at support@picu.io. We’ll configure the SSL certificate and activate the domain on our end.
That’s it – your picu site will then be accessible at your custom domain.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a root domain (e.g. yourdomain.com) instead of a subdomain?
No – root domains cannot use CNAME records. A subdomain like proofing.yourdomain.com or photos.yourdomain.com is required.
Will my existing website be affected?
No – you’re only adding a new subdomain record. Your main domain and existing DNS records remain untouched.
Does it cost anything extra?
Custom domains are included in your picu.pro plan at no additional charge.
